SOCCER-WEBSTER CITY - Molly Gilbert spent seconds, not minutes, but seconds in goal for the Webster City girls' soccer team May 7th at Lynx Field. That's all the time it took for her to get injured. It was that kind night for the Lynx in a 6-0 loss to North Central Conference rival Clear Lake. The Lions' Madi Wendel scored on a breakaway with 2:14 remaining and then accidentally spiked Gilbert in the forearm, leaving one of the Lynx top players visibly hurt as she slumped on the turf.Clear Lake (6-2) received a hat trick from Hannah Bartlett and laced 35 total shots, 23 on goal, at the Lynx (2-7). Maia Jaycox collected 16 saves for WCHS, while Gilbert had one in her brief stay in net.
