Girls Tennis - Webster City vs Ballard
LYNX GIRLS TENNIS TUMBLES: Already with state tournament experience under its belt, the Ballard girls' tennis team looked like a contender against Webster City Friday at the WCHS courts.
The Bombers sailed through singles and were equally as dominant in doubles in a 9-0 dual-meet victory over Webster City.
"They were fantastic. I can definitely see them making it to the state tournament as a team," WCHS head coach Erica Munkel said. "I was extremely proud of how (the Lynx) played. It didn't end in our favor by any means, but the girls played hard."
Ballard won 60 of the 69 games in singles and 30 of the 36 games in doubles.
Emily Jurgensen, Ballard's No. 1 player and the seventh-place finisher in Class 1A at the 2014 state tournament, knocked off Lynne Chalfant, 10-4. WCHS didn't win more than two games in any of the other five matches.
"Lynne's singles match was fantastic," Munkel said.
